UK digital advertising spend on AI search platforms reached £890 million in 2024, representing 12% of total search advertising budgets. This marks a significant shift from traditional search engines, which saw their share decrease from 94% to 88% year-on-year.

Internal AI search implementation costs average £45,000 for enterprise deployments and £12,000 for SME installations. Return on investment typically materialises within 8-14 months, with productivity gains of 19-34% reported across different sectors.

Customer service departments show the highest AI search adoption at 89%, followed by marketing (81%) and sales (74%). Human resources and finance departments lag at 52% and 48% respectively.

Market Projections

Industry analysts forecast the UK AI search market will reach £2.8 billion by 2026, representing a compound annual growth rate of 87%. Query volumes are expected to exceed 5.2 billion monthly by late 2025.
