Methodology

Each statistic in the index comes from Rank4AI audits of UK small business websites, checked against a common set of AI search readiness signals so the figures are directly comparable. We record the measured value, the date the figure was produced, a research category, and the source.

We do not publish a figure we cannot evidence from our own audit set, so some statistics describe the share of sites with a given signal problem rather than a fabricated point estimate. Where a source URL is available it is included in the statistic record and the API response; where one is not yet published, the source name is given and the URL field is omitted rather than invented.

The "last updated" date above is set to the most recent statistic date in the underlying dataset, so it never overstates freshness. The index is maintained by the Rank4AI research team and authored by Adam Parker, founder of Rank4AI.
